Overthinking and How to Overcome it.

When instead of being practical and doing things you just think too much, you’re overthinking. When you repeatedly analyze the same thoughts over and over instead of acting on it, you’re overthinking. This habit puts a stop at taking action, devour your energy, defuse your ability to make decisions, and puts you in a miserable condition. This type of thinking wastes your time and stops you from making progress in your life. This puts you at a better chance of having anxiety and losing your inner peace.

  • Your mind keeps thinking about an event, a person, or a problem that happened in the past. Instead of taking initiative, you just think about it and cannot get it out of your mind.
  • There are times when something bad happens and you only think about the worst situations, with the thoughts of “What if?” or “why?”.
  • Every now and then you’re slipping into negative thoughts.
  • You’re always concerned about the past mistakes, current problems and issues, and how negative the outcome could be.
If this happens to you often then you are what psychologists call a ruminator, or overthinker.

Ways To Stop Overthinking:

Finding yourself here looking for solutions is the best thing you can do. Because nowadays people often judge you instead of understanding what you’re facing. I’ll just try to help you understand it more.
  • Awareness is the first key to cope with your situation. You need to know exactly when you’re having doubts about yourself, when you’re stressed and anxious. Once you are aware of the situation only then you’ll be able to make good progress regarding the change you’re looking for.
  • Think Positive: Don’t give in fear and don’t let your emotions get the best of you. Try not to think about what could go wrong in the future, but imagine the things that can go right and you should try to stay in the present instead of keep thinking about the future, because your ‘better present’ is most likely to turn into a ‘better future’.
  • Distract yourself by doing what you like, it helps you stay positive. So search for that hidden talent of yours and keep yourself busy practicing it.
  • Accept your capability of doing things, don’t stress out thinking you’re not good enough, not smart enough, etc. When you’re done giving your best effort, learn to accept it as it is and be proud of it. Don’t let the negativity you get from people ruin your perspective.
There are many more ways you can stop overthinking, but I kept it short to help you direct your way towards the change you’re looking for with ease. Because reading more about this will only bore and will distract you from your point. Now it completely depends on you. You know the facts. You know what's right and what's wrong.
